At Willow Brook Primary School there is a team of support staff. In Nursery there are two full time nursery nurses and two learning support assistants (LSAs) who work alongside the class teacher. In the reception classes and Year 1 each class has a full time LSA. In Year 2 there is an LSA who supports the class during the morning whilst they are learning numeracy and mathematics. These LSAs give support within the classroom during lessons to help the children and also take out small groups or individual children to give them more targeted help. There are also LSAs who work within the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 to deliver specific intervention programs.
Each Key Stage 2 class has one LSA per year group. They support the children with the Numeracy, Literacy and Guided Reading.
The LSA's also take the children out in small groups to support them with specifcally targeted needs. We currently run intervention groups for the children in the following areas:
Behaviour, Emotional and Social Difficulties
Moderate Learning Difficulties (Numeracy, Literacy, Reading and Phonics Support)
Communication Groups
Speech & Language Groups
Handwriting Programmes
Children are put into these intervention groups for a period of six weeks, after which they will be assessed.
If you have any concerns or queries about the programmes that your children are, please contact Amardeep Panesar at the school.
